This collection covers reviews and the reviewing craft itself: how to read critically, how to say what a book actually does rather than what its jacket copy claims, and how to write reviews that help other readers decide. Every review here is clearly labeled opinion, and every opinion comes with the reasoning behind it. We judge books on the things a reader can verify for themselves: prose clarity, structural payoff, pacing, and whether the book delivers on its own premise. We never summarize plots we haven't read closely, and when a book simply wasn't for us, we say so instead of dressing preference up as verdict.
